hope for the best, expect the worst

We're nearly reaching the halfway mark for December, which is both terrifying and exciting because that means we're only 20 days away from a brand new year!!

There are so many different prospects and possibilities awaiting all of us. School used to take up almost all our time, but for now, every second of our lives is pretty much in our own hands. External influences aside, we suddenly get to choose how we want to spend our time, who we want to be with and what we hope to accomplish within 24 hours. It sounds liberating-and it is-but this also means that we have to take responsibility for our own decisions because there is no timetable we can fall back on. :S

Still, I'd take this new-found freedom over school any day LOL. Post As life has been decent so far, with a few first-time experiences like volunteering overnight for Standard Chartered marathon, going to Bangkok with the extended family amidst the riots (thank goodness it was the king's birthday week -_-) and attending prom!

The concept of prom itself is kind of lame if you really think about it haha. The girls stress over a gazillion things ranging from makeup to shoes to clutches to dresses, everyone tries to dress appropriately (this is subjective I suppose) and there is alot of food wastage on the night itself because people mill about taking photos with friends they have barely spoken to in years. But I guess it's one of those milestones you kind of have to go through, whether is it for a sense of closure or a chance to witness everyone else merrymaking and looking very different from their usual selves. Thank goodness for post-prom with the pigs! There's nothing better than old friends who accept your oddities and share so many memories with you.

Anyway. After the initial flurry of activities, I feel like I'm beginning to sink into the trap of a sloth-like lifestyle, comprising of watching shows, eating too much and doing excessive online (window) shopping. I really, really want to spend the next few months wisely and meaningfully, but how exactly do you go about it?? There are things I've always wanted to do but had to put off because of academics or age or whatever, but at the same time I'm not sure if they're sustainable or beneficial in the long run. :(

All I know is that I'm going to try my hardest to enjoy everything that I embark on and learn as much as I can from every opportunity! And hopefully not become a social hermit sigh. Please keep in touch, people. :(
