humbled

Don't know how to express how inexperienced and immature I feel right now, after being privileged enough to hear from some very inspiring people today. It's amazing learning about those who have found their calling in life, and chose to pursue it even if it may be unconventional or ridden with hardships.
As students, whenever we do CIP, it's like we volunteer a bit of our time once in awhile and then we go back to our normal lives. Even if you're in Interact, commserve sessions are only once a week, other than weekly mass gatherings and adhoc activities. And that's already quite burdensome when you can't manage your time properly LOL.
But there are really people out there who dedicate a good part of their lives just helping others, out of pure goodwill and genuine compassion, without expecting any form of return. When we do CIP, we are being rewarded with hours we can document, whether we intentionally sought this recognition or not. But there are Samaritans who are actually willing to take that extra step to serve complete strangers; they don't see it as "losing" anything (be it time or money), but rather, as something they sincerely wish to do with no strings attached.
It makes one feel so humbled and small to know that life is so much more than just receiving and wanting the very best for yourself. You realise that there is so much more you have yet to see or experience; things that are beyond your comprehension or imagination because you are still caged in a protective mix of youth and conservatism.
This thought kind of gives me hope for what lies ahead, because I know that the best has yet to come.
