Kpop: yay or nay?

Music is probably like a universal language. There are genres like pop, classical, rock, country...and of different languages like English, Chinese, Indian-everyone can find a song or singer they like, I guess! It would be a pretty horrible world to live in if there weren't music.
I think I'm quite fickle as to what is my favourite kind of music, because as long as I like the tune or lyrics, any song of any language or genre is okay for me. In fact, I even have some Indian songs in my iPod simply because the tune was catchy HAHA ;D I don't even know what the lyrics are about, and frankly, I don't want to know -_- Indian movies are always about two forbidden lovers playing peekaboo with trees and dancing with their hair flying in the wind, so I guess Indian songs are something like that too? ._.
Yes anyway that's not my point. My point is that I don't know exactly why I like Kpop so much. Maybe it's because when you have nothing better to do, Kpop news never fails to keep you occupied. It MIGHT be sadistic or boliao, but there's nothing more juicy than reading about antis hating on celebrities, controversial scandals in the Kpop industry, idols supposedly dating one another...and the list goes on!
Plus, with the gazillion songs being released every day, you're bound to find just ONE irritatingly-catchy song that insists on lingering in your mind, in the toilet, on the bus, when the teacher is droning on in class, or even when you're trying to sleep! I really like how most Korean idols have trained many years in singing and dancing, so even if they may not be good, they're at least way better than idols from other countries like *ahem* Taiwan.
I love it that there are so many performances to watch, including comebacks (!!!) and epic dance battles. Even if you're hopeless at dancing in real life, it still feels good fantasizing hehe. Through variety show appearances, I feel like I get to know these idols a little better. Even though their TV personalities might not be their true characters (I mean, you can act sweet and polite on broadcast but be a total bitch backstage), who cares?
But recently I realised that there are actually some people who look at Kpop fans in a really bad light. While there may be legions of Kpop supporters in Singapore, there are definitely those who believe that Kpop is lame, shitty, or whatnot. From what I've read before on online forums, some haters have this weird mindset that goes something like, "You like Kpop? Oh, yeah, you're one of those crazy screaming idiotic bimbotic fans who go gaga over those pretty boys. Yeah, I'm too cool for you. Kpop sucks." And if you ask them why exactly they hate it, they'd probably say with a cool shrug, "Don't know. Kpop is for losers."
I KNOW. DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE, YES?
I feel extremely disturbed when these haters act all snobbish like their hip American music is on a higher level than Kpop. Hello?! Lately, so many English pop songs are contaminated with vulgarities and sexual references. It's like, I discover this song which sounds great and I contemplate using it as my ringtone, then suddenly I hear "F*** you!". Or when I'm in the car with my parents and happily tuning into 987fm, when it starts playing a song with embarrassingly suggestive lyrics like "I wanna see your peacock!!!!"
Yeah, I really think American pop is zomg the best music on Earth and liking Kpop is a moral outrage! -_-
Nobody's forcing you to like Kpop. Plus you don't necessarily have to just like ONE particular genre; who says you cant like Taylor Swift AND Shinee? But even if you seriously can't bring yourself to listen to Kpop, there's no need to criticise fans...Just wear earmuffs! Or something! And if you dislike Kpop because you wanna be different, you don't have to try so hard, because you just look like you're part of the ASS. Not butt, but the Attention Seeking Society. (if you're butthurt, sorry but you're still an ASS)
